We invite you to once again, participate in our tournament. We will give each PAID participant from last year $10 when you check in for your first match in appreciation for "trying" to play last year. This will not apply for mixed doubles since we were able to play and points were assigned and used. We appreciate your continued support and want you to come on down to Beaumont and play this year.

Beaumont Country Club, Lamar University Tennis, and Christus Health and Wellness Center

2012 Junior Grand Prix Tournament Series

WHAT IT IS
A series of 7 tournaments whereby SETX Area Junior players compete for ranking points, culminating in a year-end SETX Area ranking in their age division

AWARDS
Awards will be provided at each event

FEES
$15 per player (singles only). All fees paid day of event

FORMAT
Play 8 games pro-set with No Add scoring. First round consolation for all first round match losers.

DIVISIONS
Boys/Girls 10s, 12s, 14s 16s 18s

* Players with a USTA Championship ranking must play up at least 1 age division
* Players with a USTA Super Championship ranking must play up at least
2 age divisions (or up to 18s)
* Sign up deadline - Wednesday preceding day of event - Deadline will be enforced!

SETTA Free Junior Summer Tennis Camp

Come experience professional tennis lessons for free!

The Southeast Texas Tennis Association (SETTA) is joining with the City of Beaumont to bring professional tennis lessons to kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn the game. Along with teaching the kids the basics of tennis, this program also seeks to instill in youngsters the values of good citizenship, leadership, and academic excellence. We aim to give all kids the opportunity to fully develop their tennis skills so they can derive a lifetime of enjoyment from the sport.

Every year various universities and tennis facilities across the state donate a number of scholarships for the their respective summer camps to USTA Texas. We are committed to awarding these scholarships to players who are willing and able, but because of financial (or other) barriers may not otherwise be able to attend.

Southeast Texas Junior Team Tennis League is now open and it is online!

Registration for the Southeast Texas Junior Team Tennis

League is now open and it is online! We invite everyone to visit our new website at www.setxjtt.com. The website contains information about the league in general and it is now the way to register to participate in the league. To register just click on the tab that says "Registration" and follow the instructions on that page.

The league will begin March 3 and will end by April 30th (the exact end date depends on the number of teams registered). You may register as a team or as a free agent and we will place you on a team. You may also request a coach or to be placed on the same team as a friend, and we will do our best to accommodate those requests. All 10 and under matches will be played at the Beaumont Municipal complex and all 11 and older games will be held at the Lamar University tennis center. The Lamar men's and women's tennis team has again offered to provide lessons for our 11 and older participants. We will post additional information with details on the time and date shortly.

If you have any questions or if you need help registering, please let me know.

Registration will close February 10. Registration after that will only be possible if there is space on a team.

Also, if anyone is interested in coaching or assisting a coach with a 10 and under team, we would love to have you involved. Please call or email me this week.

USTA 2011 Fall Junior Team Tennis (JTT)

Registration Information!Saturday September 17, 2011 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Location: Beaumont Municipal Tennis Complex

Registration Fee: $50 ($31 if USTA member)
Racquets are available to kids 10 and under for an
additional $10

What is Junior Team Tennis: Junior Team Tennis allows kids to
play tennis as a team sport. Kids are placed on teams where
they play singles, doubles, and mixed doubles against other
teams of similar age and skill level.

Who can play? This program is for any kid from 6 years old to
18. There are divisions for kids who’ve never held a tennis
racquet, just as there are divisions for kids who regularly travel
the state to compete in tournaments.

Age divisions:
QuickStart League: 8 and under, 10 and under
11 and Older League: 12 and under, 14 and under and
18 and under (Each age division has a beginner,
intermediate and advanced division)

What is QuickStart Tennis? The QuickStart format uses
modified, age appropriate courts, racquets and tennis balls for
kids 10 years old and younger. It allows even the youngest
participants to establish control and rally during their matches.
11-18 year old Beginners - Lessons will be provided on
Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 by the Lamar Men’s and Women’s
tennis team and coaches!

Volunteers: Parental participation is necessary to the success of
this program. The USTA will provide training to parents who
volunteer.

Coaches Meeting (11 and older) - Wednesday Sept. 21, 2011
Quickstart Coaches and Parent Training - TBA

Teams practice once a week at a time designated by their team
coach. League Matches will be played on Saturdays.

Lamar Tennis Camps For Kids Ages 10-18

This summer Lamar University is offering tennis camps for kids ages 10-18. This is a great opportunity to get excellent tennis instruction over the summer. As many of you know, this is the same group who volunteered with our beginner divisions in the Spring Junior Tennis League. That group showed incredible improvement this spring, and we have received a lot of praise from both parents and from kids saying how much they enjoyed the Lamar Tennis Team's instruction.

Junior Team Tennis Update

I hope everyone is ready for a great tennis league this spring. Our opening day event for all kids 10 years old and younger is this Saturday morning, March 5, from 10:30 to noon at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Complex on College Street. We'll have tennis pros on hand to introduce the kids to the game, including the rules and how to hit the ball. We're looking forward to a great day!

The coaches will be getting their team assignments this week, so look to hear from them soon!
